Jasminum sambac. Form 2.Common bush form

This is the other abundant form of Jasminum sambac and has its origin in Southern and South East Asia.
It is the normal Jasmine found in temple gardens in India and SE Asia.
It is more compact and shrubby with more oval thinner leaves produced in opposite pairs and the foliage has a lighter green to it than form one which has thicker rounder and much deeper green leaves.

This form is easily recognised by the flowers which are tight and round in bud and then slightly cup shaped when open with less pointed white/cream petals. It is often semi double with the edges of the petal just over lapping its neighbour. It has a beautiful delicate scent.
The plant is usually grown in containers and is constantly pinched out to encourage a tight spreading bush. Left alone it will tend to make a lop sided bushy column slightly arching over to one side about knee to waist height and becomes very woody with age at the base. Flowering in Europe is from late May until November. It grows at a slower rate than form one.
